Server Off

I was caught by the adjudication server 4 times within 3 hours last night, and also by other server crashes about 3 of them during the three hours, I can only assume that the servers struggle when a lot of players are logged on, although I only play in Solo. I agree that they need to do something about the slow mission menu screen it's really monotonous and frustrating, surely they could send the images to the hard drive during the ED loader sequence, or improve the server cache.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this game, I've been waiting since the 80's for this type of game but I'm sure that Frontier could manage the mechanics of this game better, and reduce the waiting times without affecting the core game. Maybe it's time for them to seperate Solo and Open and have different servers (interconnected) for each type of game. They could also remove the 4,3,2,1 countdown and just go for the 'Engaged' that would save us 4 seconds per jump, if out exploring or going long distances that would be a massive time saver. Other than these points, it is the best game out there at the moment, looked at NMS but that seems a bit cartoony for me. Just my personal opinion, what do you think?

Yep happens to me loads these days. Sometimes I am in and the mission board can't load and it does this over and over again until I get fed up and shut the game down completely. Then the unable to connect to Adjucation server happens too much too. I thought these game ruining things were a thing of the early days?

Utter frustrating.......

I've been playing for over a year now,and intially it was'nt too bad, but over thew last month it has become a regular problem, I wonder if FD are aware of this problem. I have sent a few bug reports but not seen any comment from them to say that they understand and are trying to fix it. I'm currently post captain 27%, trade Elite and I have been trying to rank up to Rear Admiral in the Taribes system and make some more credits so I can trade in my A rated Python for a Federal Corvette, and then earn some real credits, but it's going really, really slow at the moment, just grind and more grind, I'm not very good at combat so I mainly do trading and it has been a long monotonous an d frustrating haul, especially with the NPC's, they must know that my Python can out run them and always escape, so why do they keep interdicting all the way to the station, 6 interdictions in a row last night, same NPC, didn't even lose one shield ring, they are soooo stupid, a human would give up knowing after the fir4st attempt that he can't catch me, unless he cheats. but that's ED for you!

I've had problems with many other games. But usually at some point they admit there is a problem of some sort and then eventually they fix it somehow. Battlefield 4 servers were bad at one point and I can remember an acknowledgment at some point and then within a reasonable amount of time thebproblems got fixed and things were fine. This doesn't seem to be happening with elite. They just keep going on with their heads in the sand about it.

I thought I heard somewhere that they use amazon servers? Which if that is the case it strikes me like a jack of all trades but expert at none kinda situation. Amazon has there hands in so many different things i find it hard to believe they focus well on server service. Just a thought.
Yes they use Amazon but Azure in my experience are really good. I never had problem with Titanfall even during peak hours because of its scalability

I can assure you that it makes no difference at all what cloud provider is being used.
That said, mission boards are no fun tonight (GMT night)

You're right it makes no difference which cloud provider is used if it doesn't scale appropriately with increased usage. If it's automated, but requires human interaction, there's nothing we can do other than ask them to fix it.

To me it looks like there is a central bottleneck that can't handle all the load. Database, probably.
