Newcomer / Intro Services listed under Services in Galaxy Map do not appear

I have spent a hour trying to figure out how the services feature in Galaxy Map works to no avail, I've clicked on all the filters in Services and the only time something has shown up is a single red dot for "Black Market", and yes I've googled this extensively with no success, ED gameplay, spend hours on Google.......

What special dance do I have to do to get the services feature to work, does it work at all, how is it supposed to work ?.

What I want to do is find a trader for Specialised Legacy Firmware.

That will only show traders you've been to, and those within 40ly.
You can use the system map to check individual stations for a trader but you'll have to figure out where to look for whatever kind based on the economy, population and security states; eg high tech and med/high security for encoded/data traders.

This is still being filled out so there have been some discrepancies:

Thank you for your prompt reply, you've restored my sanity, *sigh* so annoying that one has to ask about a simple feature.

Haha, no problem.
I made a point of bookmarking one of each type near where I'm based, and the station I keep most of my ships at just happens to have a data trader, so I lucked out there.
I'd consider moving for that convenience, if not.

Fly safe and enjoy the view.

The issue with google in this situation is that for most of us all the new stuff is only three and a bit days old so it hasn't really had time to be discovered and reported to where google could find it.

OP is right, services filters DON'T work properly.
Last night I tried to find guardian tech trader and nothing, not a single dot. Same for human one, black markets, nothing. After several attempts, everything worked fine, I could see everything. So.. yeah.

I think it was Obsidian Ant who reported in a video that the services filter only shows dots when the population filter is set to none.

tried that, nothing. What I have noticed is that in my home system more dots appear for Black Market and Interstellar Contact only, so the person above is correct, it only shows dots if one has been to the system which is what confused me as I was under the impression that these services could be visualised without having been there.

That is correct but I have been to thousands of systems and still couldn't see any dots so there's certainly a bug involved (sometimes).

Same thing was happening to me earlier. Services and trade routes not showing. Places i had already visited, but couldnt remember exactly where they were located.
