Setting Off On My First Exploration Trip Since 3.3

Greetings CMDRs!
It's been a busy 3 weeks since 3.3 dropped.

I've spent the majority of that time mining, but I've also reached trade Elite, from mining, and become a billionaire, from mining.
I've also finally unlocked Lori Jameson, mostly because of the Elite status, granting me a permit. (Finally!)

And now I'm ready to explore.
I've set my brand new Krait Phantom "GEV Voyager" (no, it's not named after star trek, it's named after the probes... Lol) , and set course for Maia to sort out it's engines.

Turns out I didn't pack enough materials so I nipped next door to Merope, and stumbled upon one of the best vistas I've ever seen.

:D

My plan was to see some new and exciting things, so with that done, I'll head back to the bubble to mine some more. :D

Glad to hear but, if I am to be honest, the graphics in the screenie are appalling. You should post a copy in one of the threads complaining about the new lighting system. It is a very good example of why the lighting is borked.

Err, I don't see anything wrong. I know my detail levels aren't great (only running a GTX 770).

Lighting seems fine to me.
The star was directly overhead, and white, so it's very bright.

I'm just glad it's not biege anymore!

That’s an amazing vista cosmic.

Every now and again I will be playing the game and BANG il have a moment when it SMACKS me in the face and I just go WOW.

The latest was yesterday, as I disembarked from a station an orca rose up on the pad just in front of me and as we both moved off the pads in front of us was a que of ships waiting to depart. Suddenly a T9 broke through to land and once it was clear of the entrance the waiting ships each in turn lit up their engines and boosted to space.

The Orca rising up next to me was cool enough but the T9 entering a station is always an epic site to behold, coupled with five ships then powering up and departing in turn it was just a “**** this game truly is awesome at times” moment.

I just got back from a 12 000 ly round trip passenger to The Cat's Eye, 250 ish jumps each way, got a [redacted] ton of new and fully mapped system discoverys (which I never bothered pre 3.3), found three spatial anomalies but have still to find an undiscovered Earth like. Made nearly 50 mill with the passenger and cartography and so glad the heatsinks can be renewed (flying too close to a star).
The bloom definitely needs to be toned down a tad, was getting a headache in VR, esp when the gas giant images blatted up on screen in the FSS, had to take breaks to give me eyes a rest.
3.3 - a big thumbs up and may 2019 bring us treasures undreamed :) o7 Commanders...

An 'exploration trip' to Maia? What was that? 5 jumps ;)

Nice pic though, visiting planetary POI is now easy and I'm seeing more geology than ever before, they're really well done.

It was 6 jumps I'll have you know!

Lol
It was a pit stop to sort out my DD5s.

For some reason, they were pinned, but I couldn't apply them. So I had to fly out there to unpin, and then repin them. Lol
Then realised I didn't have any Selenium, so I went to Merope to find some.
And found that view instead.
And loooooads of Selenium!

Probably a bad idea starting an exploration trip yesterday. I'm not going to be online until next Friday, and when I log in, I'll be like "What the hell am I doing in Merope?" :D
