Setting up opentrack.

Hi Cmdr's,

I am using the edtracker but need to install opentrack.

However all the instructions I have found so far refer to the 2.2 release which has been superseded by the 2.3 release.

This latest release does not conform to the instructions in that when I select joystick there is no option to select edtracker.

Can anyone advise me how to get it working with ED please.:S

Also I thought that edtracker did not need opentrack to work but the instructions are again out of date as to how to set edtracker to work in the ED controls menu.

Check that Ed track is still recognised by windoze. I routinely have to unplug and replug the USB for win to wake up.

I got an edTracker a couple of months ago and I just use the software that came with it (downloaded off website). This works fine with ED. I just assigned the bindings in the ED setup (sorry not at gaming pc at the moment). Also make sure to assign a headlook button to essentially activate looking around the cockpit.

Pretty sure their website had a tutorial video for ED setup as well.

Hi Cmdr's,

Thanks for the advice.)

I finally found it, they have moved the headlook toggle onto a different sub menu.....:S

It is working fine now.:D

OpenTrack has three advantages over native use in ED:-
1) It's plug and plag (with ED and all other TrackIR games). If you have binds directly too the EDTracker, in the past, if you didn't plug in the EDTracker you risked screwing up your config. Via OpenTrack there are no configs at all within ED.
2) You can define nice motion/reaction graphs in all axis. So head movement results in small ingame moving while facing forwards, but bigger in game movement the further you get off center.
3) You get a third axis. ie: Leaning.

Thanks, I do have Opentrack as well for use with ARMA 3 but I haven't had a good play with it yet. Just did the basics to get up and running. I didn't realise there was a lean as well so need to spend a bit of quality time with it I think!

And the beauty of the curves in Opentrack RE lean, is you can also set it i[ so a bit of lean is ignored... and only when you make a serious lean is it counted.
