I've had my Rift since April. LOVE the game in VR and have logged way too many hours playing. I think that I'm starting to get permanent Rift face from wearing the headset so much....
Anyway, I've used Dr. Kaii's tool to adjust settings, and got a little bit of resolution improvement from it. Changed the HUD colors with it (Thankfully. I hate the orange/rust of the default.) But it just never completely dialed in for me for some reason. I'd adjust the supersampling and the image quality and still always only got minor improvements.
So last night, on a whim, I played with the graphical settings in game. I never use my mouse in game, but I did last night to expand the options for the HMD. With one small change, the game changed. I went from High/Ultra graphics settings to VR High (I had done this in Dr. Kaii's tool. No clue why it didn't work then.).
Daaaaaaaaaamn.
A great deal changed. Mostly, all of the images sharpened considerably. There were other changes, but I can't honestly say they're from the game and not me just noticing things due to the vast increase of image quality.
So, long story short, make sure you're using one of the VR graphics options when you play in VR. It's a night and day quality difference.
