So I was hanging around Alcor, taking potshots at Authority Vipers over in Doris, waiting for Universal Cartographics to get their act together.
And I suddenly thought, "screw this, I'm going anyway!"
Leaping into the brightly coloured seat of my rusty Cobra I dashed through the core systems in the general direction of the Pleiades.
It wasn't long before I found myself sitting in orbit above an Earthlike planet way out there, looking up at the nebula.
Asterope and Sterope II were unremarkable, so I moved over to HR 1185, an extraordinary (but un-photogenic) system with a load of T-Tauri stars and a black hole.
At Celaeno I had a close encounter with an Asp - ultimately no match for the Cobra but it did some damage, fortunately I'd brought an auto-repair kit along.
(oops, sorry, the link was wrong, here it is!)
I'm glad I swapped out the ship's cannons for multicannons as I would have run out of ammunition several defunct pirates earlier, but they would have been good against a big slow ship like that.
This attractive metal-rich planet orbits Celaeno.
Maia is a very busy system, here's a view from a fairly close orbiting gas giant...
...and here's another black hole, you can see the distortion of stars against the nebula background (which should also be distorted, but whatever, it's neat!)
All is going well and there's a load more stars in the cluster to explore. Hope I can sell this when I make it back.
