General / Off-Topic Severe Thunderstorm & Tornado Warning (Oregon)

Looks like no Elite for me tonight.

The emergency message system popped up once to warn of an excess of 60MPH winds and quarter sized hail.

Then again 5 minutes later with the same message only this time with reports of funnel clouds forming and the possibility of a Tornado touch down.

What makes this an interesting turn of events is this is in Oregon. We have no tornado shelters.

Event:Severe Thunderstorm Warning
Alert:THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MEDFORD HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR...
SOUTH CENTRAL CURRY COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN OREGON...
SOUTHWESTERN JOSEPHINE COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN OREGON...

CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS
OF 60 MPH. THIS STORM WAS LOCATED 7 MILES EAST OF ALFRED A. LOEB
STATE PARK...OR 12 MILES EAST OF BROOKINGS...AND MOVING NORTHEAST
AT 35 MPH.

I am just north in Washington. We have been getting hammered the past week and a half with wind and rain.

Good luck, and may your internet and power stay lit. (or you could always play D&D or something by candlelight, that is my power outage gaming solution :D)

Good luck! That's why I love the northeast, no such major concerns here. I live so far north I may as well be southern Canadian lol. We did have an earthquake a few years back scared the hell out of lots of folks. I slept through it haha

Well, while we in the UK don't manage to have quite such devastating weather, over the last few days in Cumbria there has been severe amounts of rain, to the point where several towns have been flooded, and (unfortunately) while there was a lull, they had another large rain storm which only caused more heartache. Fortunately nobody has been seriously hurt or killed.

Why we ever thought that continent is a good place to live is beyond me. You don't hear about tornados in Asia do you? Only massive tsunamies and volcanos but, I mean tornados *shivers*. Crazy 'Mericans.

Fortunately I am not in Cumbria, but about 200 miles south. However, people in Cumbria are managing to get things sorted, and are working together to fix things.

Haha it's not so bad really. At least in my area. Blizzards are the worst we get. Past few winters though we've had 3-4 month stretches at -10 to -30 degrees F. Guess it takes a bit of toughness to survive it long term ;)

Im not seeing any notifications. What site did you see that in? Folks are in gp.

The notifications were on the radio, tv and internet. It was threatening enough to interrupt social services with a warning and damage the coastline.

I believe it has lost it power but it may regain it once again.
