Hey all.
I'm getting pretty good at this smuggling thing now. And I just tweaked my Asp to make it as fast as I possibly could!

I was just curious what you guys use to smuggle?

Here's my loadoit.

Asp Explorer:

Lightweight Hull
D5 Thrusters
D4 power Plant
D5 Sensors
D4 Power Distributor
D4 Life Support
A5 FSD
D3 Sheild Generator
B5 Fuel Scoop
Advanced Discovery Scanner

2x 1/G G Pulse Lasers
Heat sink
Chaff

Plus some cargo racks and fuel.
With that, I can carry 84 tonnes of cargo.
And empty, I can jump 33.23Ly (35.85ly without fuel)

I don't really need weapons, but its more to stop police scans. Lol
Although I did stop to blow up a sidewinder with it earlier.

I was going to outfit my Python to smuggle, but I couldn't get the jump range as high as I'd liked, so I went back to my Asp.

Similar, but ditch the weapons and get Class-A Thrusters and Power Distributor for max. boost speed, and boost recovery. (speed is critical to evade scans)

You've pretty much nailed my Asp - Smuggles. Altho I've only 64T as I think I have a hanger, oh and weapons (which to be fair I've hardly used). I'm a complete smuggling greenhorn. But I enjoyed the shadow delivery missions so Ive resolved to do more, but the conventional type of smuggling.

Or go exploring...

I'll try that next time I dock somewhere.
As long as it doesn't kill my jump range.
(I hate repeatedly hyperspacing).
Maybe ditching the weapons will balance it back out.

I'm also not sure which works best.
My old setup had enough fuel capacity for roughly 400lys, and an A3 fuel scoop, which was slow, but I didn't have to refuel mid flight.
My new build only has enough fuel for about 180ly, but can refil much faster, with the B5 scoop. Both seem to get me there the same speed, cos I tend to hug stars while cooling my FSD and scanning the system....

Speed is more important than jump range, and it's a pretty minor hit in any case. (30+ LY empty) The only thing is cost, but after a few runs that shouldn't be an issue! ;)

You can get 108T if you go for a Class-3 scoop, but I found that really tedious, so I went with a Class-5. Also keep in mind there's no reason to scoop at each star, only scoop when the message panel shows no potential interdictions (police/pirates). If you don't get interdiction messages in the first 15 seconds around the star, there will be none.

Practice staring at the "mini-radar" and maneuver to point at the jump-point the instant you enter the system and be ready to engage the FSD the moment the cool-down is over. If you're safe (no orange messages), back-off and go back & scoop 'till full. (might need to do this three times on a typical Robigo run)

By completely minimizing the time you spend around a star, you'll quite often be jumping to the next system before the police/pirates even start an interdiction.

My single-run record to date with this loadout is CR 45.6 million (Entrepreneur)! :)
