She was under me all along....

So a few weeks ago I was loosing my patience with having to use an asp or conda for exploration (well not HAVING to, but its the sensible choice) and posted a whiney thread. What I wanted was an exploration yacht, what with all the stuff we can carry now.

Now I want to be clear....I'm not new to exploration or the conda. Always had a conda parked up and stripped down for fast access to far away areas I wana get to quickly. But I've always hated it, called it the Bibi Vaccum I hated it so much.

But something happened to me on my last rift trip tho. Not sure if it was the emptiness in the rifts belly, or maybe seeing the things engineers have to offer lately, but I started to love my conda. After playing around with coriolis for a bit, using large frag cannons to replicate a large multi canyon, I realised my perfect exploration yacht had been under me the whole time!

I think its because when back in the bubble I would just throw the highest class and highest grade stuff into the python or ferdy and not really think about it, don't think any of the medium ships fare well when skimping on kit tbh. I was going to post this while i was out there, figured Id put it together first tho to see how she fares.
OMG its just fine, perfect for what i want...lil scetchy example... http://coriolis.io/outfit/anaconda/...4023h4f1105--2bv6F12i2f.Iw18eAMnEA==.Aw18ZlA=

Not exact, have to wait for engineers to see what exactly we can do.
How have I explored this long, thousands of systems, thousands of light years and never seen its potential? Might even sell the asp.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this utterly pointless thread:)

I concur. Prefer the Conda to the Asp. After a couple of days the Asp workbench becomes annoying. The Conda cockpit is shiny, with mood lighting.

I think of it the same way. Sure the Asp has better visibility, but it achieves it through sheer boring maximum efficiency. Take chair, place in glass enclosure, add boring old lakon workbench, done. The 'conda's bridge actually looks like a starship bridge. I like some mood and rule of cool, not just dry efficiency in my spaceship :)

Agree. Gotta love the Conda, the best explorer out there. Some say they are slow, some even say they are ugly. I say they are the best. It's taken me 200KLy to realise it but they rock.

Just out of curiosity CMDR, what is your set-up for your Exploration 'Conda?....if you don't mind sharing

Heh. At first, the Anaconda feels painfully slow while turning. It takes time to get used to - but, once a pilot becomes accustomed to the controls, it's a beautiful ship to fly. Two examples come to mind:

1. I got used to the Anaconda by taking a two-month trip to the neutron star fields. Having to scoop while traveling, or moving to turn away from a neutron star, quickly showed me how best to maneuver with it.

2. Takaru Minari got used to the Anaconda by racing it - first to Sadge, then to Beagle Point. His speed gradually improved over time as he got used to the controls. He set a time of about 9:21 for the Sadge run and about 25:23 for the Beagle Point run.
