Shield balancing and collisions

Hi everyone,

Following this post on the bug section https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/416895-Inconsistent-collisions?highlight=fernetti
and seeing it was totally ignored I thought of being constructive and just propose an idea I had while playing.


Collisions are very inconsistent in Elite and it is a pity. Such wonderful immersion and then I don't feel I crashed on something. So I propose to make the shields visible when bumping on something, the same as it happens when you are shot. After all it is still kinetic damage isn't it? Of course still not a definitive solution for the collision weirdness, but better than nothing.


Also, just an idea but I feel like shield tanks are not balanced in regards to hull tanks. Hull tanks have to account for malfunctions so... what if we introduce shields malfunctions like for example when reaching the last ring?

I hope the community and especially the devs, who I feel are not really playing the game that much after seeing how I was treated after opening a support ticket for yet another collision weirdness, will consider my ideas.
