the Heavy Duty part
OE shield boosters add a flat 4% increase to the shield value, and they stack to give a multiplier of 1.xx depending on how many you have.
according to inara, the G5 Heavy Duty mod adds 38% to your existing shield strength... which should be easy enough to calculate using a (1+.38) multiplier.
but according to EDSY, the SHIELD BOOST is 39.5%, and further, the number in the text box is 43.52% which is what's actually used to arrive at my new shied value.
i understand the difference between the boost number and the number in the text box as the 4% value the booster came in with as a stock item, so the change is 39.5% and the total for the booster is 43.52%... that part makes sense.
what i don't get is why they started with 39.5% when it should be 38%... or is inara just wrong here?
if it's the latter, i can accept that... but i just feel like i'm missing something obvious.
the super capacitor part
how the real head scratching begins when you turn on the experimental effect which, according to inara should be a 5% increase to the OPTIMAL STRENGTH value.
as i understand how that value works is this change will ripple thru the booster and all the way down to the base shield modifier which is a whole page worth of MATHS and took better part of a day for me to work thru and understand (barely).
does this mean to arrive at the additional effect on boost i would need to go back and re-calculate the base shield modifier, then work forward again thru the part above with that new shield number?
how do they arrive at the % values for this experimental effect?
