shield cell banks. what do they do?

I just used theses and it seems it didn't do anything. I still had some Shields left.. what do they do??

They 'top up' your shields (so long as the shields are online, they cannot repair offline shields).

It's possible, if you have large powerful shields and only a relatively small SCB that you won't actually see an increase in the shield rings, but the percentage will / should have gone up regardless.

hmm I have a 1b cell bank. and my Shields are 700ish there the bio wave Shields.. do they work with them?

A 1b cell bank would struggle to repair an SRV's shields...

You get what you pay for.

When you're buying the SCB in outfitting it will tell you its repair rate and how long it repairs for.
So if the bank has a repair rate of 45 and its duration is 3 seconds then you'll see a total shield gain of 135mj.

Your 1b SCB spins for 1 second and repairs 24mj, if you spam all 4 ammo you'll still only regenerate around 1/7 of your total shield strength. :)

I see thanks

It's pretty much been explained how they work, but I'll give a couple tid bits here as well.

First, if you're in a full on combat ship, you're going to usually want 2 scbs and you'll want to stack them when you use them.

Example - my python has a class 6 shield and 2 class 6 shield sell banks. The shield is biweave at around 900 shield strength. When my shields hit 1 ring, I'll pop 1 scb and a heat sink, wait 5 seconds and then pop the other scb. This essentially recharges my shields to full from near 0 and negates any heat damage from using the scbs.

Another thing to consider is total shield potential. In some cases it's better to downgrade a shield and use the bigger class slot for an scb, as in the long run you'd get more total shield out of the setup. I believe people sometimes do this with a combat cutter, as the class 8 scb with the class 7 shield offers more total shield when the scbs end up being used.

Lastly, like someone said, you get what you pay for. Personally anything under a class 4 scb just isn't worth the slot imo, unless you're on a small ship and even then it's probably questionable.

Personally I wouldn't run banks on the ship unless it has decent shield strength and never stack the banks because you'll cook yourself instantly even with a heatsink.

I stack on my vette and never go over 100, usually not even over 80. You just need to wait about 3-5 seconds after the heat sink and first scb and the heat sink negates both scbs thermal.

I've been running with five boosters on the FDL, but it might be time to swap in a SCB & HS.

I run 5 boosters, 1 heat sink and 2 class 4 scbs. The scbs don't charge a whole lot when considering the size of my shields, but my build has no hull reinforcement so they're kind of a latch ditch effort to not see the rebuy screen.

Also running a smaller shield for a larger bank is stupid to me. My 7A Prismatic with all the trimmings is 6000 shields about. The 7A bank gives you 627 MJ a shot...

I'll give that setup a try. I only just went to Elvira tonight to engineer some 5A and 5CBW shields after I got shredded by an elite npc wing of a python & a dropship in a haz res. I 've been going with the boosters, 1 chaff, a 4d hull & 4D mod, but that wasn't enough to keep me in the fight and so I had to run. May as well ditch the chaff, most bigger npc ships seem to be relying on plasma.

I agree for the most part. I think it just depends on the ship though. I can't remember which build I saw, but it ran 1 size downgrade on shield to fit a larger scb, which gave more total mj's when counting scbs than it does vice versa.

For a cutter you can easy get near 10000 MJ. An 8A SCB has a total of 4420 MJ if you use all 4 shots. (1105 a shot) so it'll be stupid to not run the 8A shield gen

Like I said, it depends on the ship. I don't think it was the cutter. I thought the cutter had only 1 class 8 and then a class 7.

But, i'll provide an example using the anaconda.

Both builds have 6 boosters with heavy duty and 2 heat sinks for the scbs to ensure you always have a heat sink availed for SCB charges. One build has prismatic the other a standard downsized 6a.

Class 6a with 7164 raw shield strength.

Even though the first one is using a class 7 prismatic, it's total shield strength is actually less than the 6a after counting the mjs of the scbs.
