Shield generator turning itself on after system jumps: New feature or bug?

Hello all. I didn't know where else to ask this so I'll put it here.

Long story short: Tonight when I logged on post-update, I noticed that the shield generator on my exploration Adder kept switching itself on every time I'd jump to a new system. As I like to keep the shield gen turned off when I'm not actively landing on a planet surface, this is highly irritating to me.

My question is as to whether my auto-rebooting shield gen is a bug or a newly-added "feature." If the latter, then I'd ask FD to please revert the change ASAP. If the former, then I'll submit a bug report. I'd just like to know which of these is the case before I take action.
