Hi, please can some one give me information on shields.

what is.......

Mass 8.00T
optimal Hull Mass 55T - this has a down arrow and is in red
Maximum Hull Mass 110T with a down arrow and in red

AFAIK the arrows are a comparison with what you already have installed. Red down means less than and up green means more than. I think.

The down arrow in red means it is worse in that category than the one you have. Better gear usually has higher weight (worse) and higher power usage (worse). For optimal/maximum mass stats, they want to be as high as possible for best effect.

ok... I think I get it....
So if the shields I want have worse optimal/maximum hull mass then don't get those shields..

but what is optimal/maximum hull mass?

For those stats on a shield unit, Mass is the mass of the unit itself. Sidenote: D-rated kit is usually the lightest of any given piece of kit, which can help improve your max jump range. So it can depend on what you want from your kit, not just the letter rating of its overall quality.

Optimal Mass is the mass of the ship that the shield will work the best for, before becoming overworked.

In between Optimal and Maximum is where the shield starts to get overworked, as it's covering more ship mass than it's really best at. Anything over Maximum and that shield just won't cut it anymore.
