I just returned to the game today and my Beluga's shields are 0% and flashing red and everything is else is ok. Not sure what the problem is I thought they regenerated by themselves?

Two thoughts:
1) You turned the shield module off (right panel - Modules - is it checked?)
2) No pips to shields
Bonus: Maybe you don't have shields fitted

The one with Shield Generator in it's name. Make sure it has a checked box
and at least one pip to SYS
and at least one pip to SYS
So what is the shield module called and the module that gives you power?

I don't think they flash red if you don't have a shield generator at all. You've either got no pips in SYS, or your power plant is overloaded.
Edit: Pips are the four little squares between the letters "SYS" and the vertical stack of bars. You might also have a damaged shield generator.

I dont have a shield generator and I cant find anything in the station I am in. Four pips in SYS have a 6B power plant
