Shield. Numeric value or percentage display.

FD please!
Also, excuse my painting and picture editing skills. I hope it transfers the idea pretty clearly.

I get the equivalent data by watching my rings. What benefit would you get from this? I have no gripes with the idea, I just see it as duplicated data on the HUD.

I don't think this is needed - the three rings sum it up pretty well enough.
Where they DO need shield numeric values is in the outfitting section - you are just flying blind when it comes to shield strength when upgrading to a 'class C' shield.

Exactly my thoughts. I don't want a percentage on the HUD. Simply because it is not needed there and I like the clean look wihtout too much info. Nevertheless, I always like to have as much information as possible in games to theorycraft. So I would really like absolute numbers in the outfitting screen (shieldbooster + pip management included).

Yeah i really love the idea, for me numbers are better any time vs a graphic representation. Also i really love numbers for fuel, fuel can be pretty important, ask fuel rats if you don't believe me.

I think displaying the numeric value for shields is useful when you're in a tough fire-fight and shields are taking a pounding ... i think you could mentally project shields-down time more accurately seeing the numbers dropping than detecting the shifting colour.

Think it would certainly help for that emergency SCB .... no reason to not expose the % really .. doesn't hurt since we already get that (seemingly) redundant energy profile graph wibbling around on our hud

I think this is just redundant. The rings represent it well, and adding another shield bar is overkill. Maybe just add a percentage number, though I don't really need that either.
In the end it's clearly visible how fast the shields drop during a fight, and for judging when to run or to use SCBs it's definitely enough.

If the hull has a number representing it's integrity, why not the damn shield? Seriously.

The shield isn't necessary for the ship's integrity and can't be "repaired" like the modules and the hull.

I just find it quite inaccurate having colours shifting as a representation of such thing. Sometimes I just don't have the time in battle to decide wether it's slightly bluish red, or reddish blue. There should be accurate display.
Funny enough, we have it only for our targets. And only in left hand panel tab. So why not for our own ship?
What I did was just an example, but having just some rings shifting colours is barely an accurate indication.

Agreed.

For a temporary work-around, pull up Coriolis.io on your phone or something and put your ship build in on that as you're at the outfitting screen. Its numbers are accurate.

I'd like to be able to see my ships shields % or number, atleast somewhere.
And my targets, on the holo display.

Partly because it's handy, and mostly because I plan to launch a series of laser tag games that ideally don't involve death. Lol

I like this addition, it will come in even more handy,
onc shield sectors find their way (if ever)to E: D.
Allowing you to see the sector's integrity (rings)
and the total shield energy at hand to shift around.

I'd rather have this in my systems lookup in my right floating console if at all. The rings do the job.

Now, what would be nice is a system in your outfitting screen or a readout in your ship bios that tells you exactly how many Mj are in your shields and some sort of durability metric that also takes into account pips.

This seems nice but there is another thing that would be very useful. On right panel in Functions tab we have current jump range value - we should have some other stats as well.

For example we could have:

* maximum shields in MJ and current shields MJ value
* maximum hull armour

would be nice if we also have:

* maximum possible speed
* maximum boost speed
* pitch/roll/yaw 360° in seconds

here could be some more info but I forgot at the moment. The point is - this info is very useful and we should not go into Shipyard in another ship to check these values. It is pointless waste of time.

If the rings would turn completely on or off, THEN, in the middle of intense battle, I can figure out... oh ok. 33%? 66%? full(-ish)?

But AFAIK, right now, the ring kinda.... dimmed.....

Not good.
