There is some thing , that is not feeling right with the shield strength , mass and size of the ship.
This is clearly noticable witht the shield strenghts of the Cobra III and Cobra IV both use the same maximum class 4 shield generators and the larger heavier Cobra MK IV has better shielding than the lighter smaller Cobra MK III.
Frontier uses manny real physics and mechanics and this is a bit of out of that tradition.
One would expect that a shield generator would have a basic power out put , and that the shield would expand like a balloon around the ship .
the larger the ships or surface area the thinner or less strong the shields become ( Shield Power / Area = Shield Strenght)
For example an cobra mk III is wide and and thin , stretching the shields .in comparison to a Diamond back explorer which is more compact making the shields stronger as the surface area is smaller .
Personaly i do hope frontier will change or correct this in the future as this would solve future discusions .
And most importantly more scientificly acurate.
