Shields and Mining

Quick question about Shields and Mining, does anyone know if kinetic resistances are any use against those pesky asteroids? They are, after all, a kinetic impact!

My mining Anaconda is basically a reworked full-on warship. No problems with asteroids and I DO hit them.
What, deliberately? does that help? :) ;) :D

It's when I take my T10 into the asteroid after I've blown it apart with seismic charges. I find my T10's back side is a bit big in there :D

:D No, not deliberately. Last time I went core mining so there's a lot of flying around the asteroid - and sometimes there's crowd.

One thing I have found, when the seismic charges go off, they pulverize the S.L.F. so I don't launch it for standard core mining ops any more

Engineer a bi weave shield with heavy duty shields and buy armored hull plating with a kenetic resistance, definitely helps. In my Imperial Cutter, I pretty much use asteroids to slow the ship down when I spot a void Opal core. Barely does any damage with a ship traveling at 500 speed slamming straight into it 😀👍

Use bi-weave shields. They regenerate much more quickly between bumps.

That's about the best thing you can do to "specialise" a mining ship's shield.

Kind of like with combat, 500mj of shield that can re-generate in 30 seconds is a lot more useful than 1000mj of shield that takes 10 minutes to regenerate.

If you're feeling brave, try deploying your cargo scoop and then ramming a 'roid at full-speed.
Alternatively, try detonating a DC roid while you're only a hundred metres from it.

If your shield can absorb that kind of abuse and recover quickly, so it's ready for the next time, you're doing it right.
