Im guessing this has been proposed already but here it goes.
I propose new type of mission - race.
Ships:
System station to system station/same sys.or other.
Race lasts lets say 24h and who has best time after that 24h wins.
When collecting reward station or sys local comms make announcement who won.
SRV:
Surface outpost to surface outpost but available where distance is small, where it wont take more then 20-30min.
After lets say 24h owner of best time is winner. On collectin reward he is mentioned in outpost or maybe sys local comms.
Only thing is that using ship auto disqualifies. On accepting mission/race you are auto deployed in SRV.
Reward depends on totall no. Of participants. So farming some backwater race wont be posible.
No waypoints to make it simple for programing. Really this shouldnt be hard to implement. its low hanging fruit for FD.
Maybe have a rank system based on no.races and win percentage.
