Ship auto levelling on planets

Greetings Commanders

Today I notice for the first time my ship is auto levelling to zero degrees while flying planetary. This is in the FDL as I type this message.

I really don't think I've seen this on other ships and I've done a fair few hours planetary flight in Python, Asp, Cobra, Eagle and Anaconda.

Is this new or unique to the FDL? This has really just thrown me for a loop. I've landed now and am calm again.

Thanks in advance

EDIT please note this is in current build not beta

I think its happen in all ships since first horizon beta. I remember some one complaining about auto leveling during horizon beta back in December 2015. It just something that you don't usually notice.

Further testing found that it only happens under 25 degrees and while under no input. Didn't matter where the throttle was. Haven't got out of the FDL yet so won't be testing further.

I'm really surprised I haven't noticed this before and like I said I've flown a lot of planetary flights, maybe I've always been inputting something until just then but that's seems really far fetched to me.

Happens with every ship with flight assist on, been like that since horizons launched. Only two ways to disable it, keep 4 pips to engines, and/or keep throttle at 100% Anything less than that will auto level if you release the stick.

Not unique, happens in all ships. Have you tried assistance off?

I have been using assist off especially when I'm in the eagle so that would certainly have limited my exposure to it.

I can confirm that. In fact I have come to rely on it :)

I gotta say I did really enjoy it after the initial weirdness. Timing it to level out when landing and going over ridges and such.

It was just very strange that I only noticed it last night and the fact it was my first planetside run in my freshly bought FDL.

Thanks, think I'll be releasing control a lot more for casual flying, amazed how such a small touch makes such a difference in feel of flight,

Bring on the atmospheres
