Horizons Ship cockpit update

I am sure that this has been mentioned many times but... FD needs to update the ship cockpit graphics. They are very dated (1990's). I'm sure it won't be high on their priority list but it might help attract new players.

If you mean the HUD they can't even recode it for different colors, so it seems doubtful we will see modifications to it. Not sure it is 1990's though, where do you get that from?

I just saying that the look of the HUD is similar to what games looked like in the 90's. The rest of the game (other than the HUD) looks very good.

Go here and have fun.. >>>> http://arkku.com/elite/hud_editor/#theme_0.21_0.28_0.93_0_1_0_0.9_1_1 <<<

I like this one.

<MatrixRed> 0.5, 0.3, 0.5 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 0.5, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> .2, 0, 0 </MatrixBlue>

I'm well aware that we can partially recode our HUD as a workaround, I use one myself. But FD are unable (it seems) to offer a "choose color option" for the HUD without affecting other display colors, as has been requested over and over and over.

Very true and very irritating.. But, I still found it entertaining to play with the editor to find something more to my liking.
Ideally we should be able to control the color scheme in every panel and the main display.. Question is, how many people want that level of control?? All I wanted to do was be able to read the small display in the lower left that described the type of ship and the systems on it that was attacking me, and to be able to read the lat/long information in the SRV.. The scheme I posted does that for me.

YMMV

The demand is probably among the majority of players for a change from the orange, which is overwhelming at times, but whether it is for different panels, I don't know. That would be a good idea for changing ships ... have different panels different colors :)

Yep.. ORANGE ON ORANGE Yuck......

I wasn't just talking about colors. I meant a complete overhaul the looks. I is currently a crude hologram (by some of the other game standards anyway). Just think should be on the list of potential enhancements. I agree about the colors though as well. There should at least be a separate color scheme for hud, players and menu's.

For a game where your stuck in the cockpit I'd think high customization would be a no brainer? What year is this...techonological advancement extrapolations i think were done poorly (not thought out). There's a serious mismatch on how these things mesh together...and why be sim for unfuns sake? All this is high fantasy anyways.

If they wanted to extrapolate technological advancements (which on these sort of time scales is going to be impossible anyway) and make this a sim, there would be no cockpit.

Everything is done for flavor.
