Ship Decisions..?

I went from a Type-6 to an Asp. Not sure where the 96t cargo came from ? I easily got 120t in my Asp and still had a very capable ship.
It's also a mid-step to the Type-7 i have now. As the Asp carries more cargo than the Type-6 and has combat capability it seemed like a no-brainer to me. Also when you want to go up to the Type-7 selling the Asp gains you around 10 mil (depending on equipment).
Still not sure on my next step tho, cargo-space-wise, what's after a T-7 ?

96 is where I got when using C5 shields. You can get another 32 if you drop those.

Would be interesting to find out. As it stands, I find C5 shields a little too underpowered, except for bumps and trade.

Let me just pop into 'Single player Combat Training' and kit one out for testing.... oh wait we can't do that in this game can we :(

Hi all,

So I've been doing rare good runs in the Type-6 for a while. I have gotten myself 11 million credits in cash, along with the Lakon Type-6 and also a Cobra MKIII, which is fairly well kitted out.

Anyway, given the fast approaching Wings update I wondered which ship I should really go for. The Type-7 or the ASP? I could take the ASP and keep my Type-6 for pure trading, allowing me some fun bounty-hunting with pals in a semi-decent ship. Or, I could go straight for the Type-7 in order to grind to the next ship.

I'm just concerned that if I don't make the jump to the Type-7 now, then it's just going to be much more difficult to progress my ship. Unless of course people think that I can make decent money fast by not trading...

Any thoughts and advice will be greatly received.

Cmdr Bwebzy.

Wings helps combat but trading is still king for making money. Get the T7 join a convoy with wings and get a vulture on the side when you can afford it.

After the type 7 if you want the fast track to credits and you're running without shields on the 7, then the next step is the type 9. The type 7 has the best cargo capacity and thus the most reliable and high income untill then. The Python won't even get a good kit before you can upgrade to the 9.
BUT
the Python is a lot of fun and has pew pew built in.
if you want to enjoy the game and not trade till your ears bleed try the clipper if you can buy it then the Python.
Just note that either of these ships are very very expensive to kit out and maintain. The clipper has a class 7 slot for a shield and it's not cheap same shield is on the conda. The Python also has high class internals and is just more expensive overall. Maintenance and repairs should be more manageable after 1.2.

Ya know, I went from the T7 to the Python and never thought I'd want a T9. I'm having fun pew pewing in the Python, but it's only B/C spec right now. I could sell my kit and the Python and get a T9 right now. Why? Because the lure of 3 to 4 million an hour is strong. Trading in my 'trade config' of the Python only makes around 2 million an hour. Big difference. I could either save up to rebuy and A kit my Python, or check out that Conda. Decisions, decisions.

I'm still working on my conda aka money pit, aka HMS Miley Cirus. I have a full loadout on a clipper and eventually a python as well for fun ships. A trade conda is pretty cheap relatively speaking and it's the right tool for the job if you want to print money. The clipper was garbage when I first got it when I had little money to upgrade it. Where as now it's my favorite ship to fly it really needs a lot of bankroll as does the Python to really bring out its potential. Going back to these ships at that point makes more sense to me since they have a greater expense in outfitting then they themselves could easily bring in to do so. Again though that's far from the fun way to go about it as I'm sure you'll agree the Python was and still is an impressive and fun ship. But let me tell you the conda is amazing about the time you triple its value it becomes something else. A grade thrusters make a world of difference and it has unmatched firepower. If you want my recommendation go after that type 9 then the conda once you have the credits get a stable going and actually have fun in the ships you want without a care of repair costs instead of using every ship to grind. It will take a while but man having that overhead to be reckless with sure makes flying the ships more fun. Both a conda and a T9 on any diecent route will make you over a million round trip. I generally make around 6-8 mill per hour. When the market dries up I take the clipper out for some shenanigans.

I made a lot of money trading with the ASP. With a 25 LY jump range at 112 cargo space, it was a very nice flexible trader. I made around 365k profit per round trip with a one jump trade route with it.

Yeah, I dunno how people find routes like that. The best I can do, if I had a 500t ship on my current route, would be 4M per hr. I've been around the Empire, never used a trading tool and don't do rares. I trade in C tech, P cells, gold, and pallad.

For trading I went:
Hauler >>
Cobra for rare runs >>
T6 (104T) >>
Asp (96T) Also good for combat and trade missions >>
T7 (216T) Kept Asp for Exploration and Missions involving outposts>>
Clipper (232T) Still kept Asp >>
Now in a Python (260T) sold Asp to fund Python with A rated FSD and distributor as python can do outposts and can fight.

I have an A rated Viper in storage for some fun fast pew pew.

I would very much like to know the details of that route!

Well if you're killing people, it's got to be Ride of the Valkyries.
I have a blast while listening to Tomita. Here's a mix of 2001 and Ride of the Valkyries and it's done very well IMO.

Even the video fits in with the game... Fancy exploring?
