Ship Delivery: Is it dependant on a FSD module size?

Not discussing Ship transfer/times per se, More of a Question on the Requirement for this to work.

If i Park my Corvette at Sol, and strip its FSD to the smallest that will fit, Its effective jumprange would be so small that by its own it cant even leave the system....Will i still be able to "call" it to Founders world?

Personally i feel that in such a scenario you shouldn't be able to call the ship to your station. How does it leave SOL with a Grade 2 FSD?

If this fits in an existing thread - my apologies, and please close.

Ship transfer should be like car transport services. Unless it is a priceless classic and you trailer it, usually you can find someone to drive it there. That is how it should work in ED. If your ship is not able to be driven to you on its own and not small enough to fit inside a ship with jump capability to reach you it should not be able to reach you. If a pilot is on the rim, 10,000 ly from nowhere, the pilot should not be able to instantly, magically switch ships. Can a ship be transported there? Sure and the pilots will fly 24/7/365 without sleep but it should take the same amount of time to transport a ship anywhere as it would take a pilot to fly it there, albeit flown there by a pilot who never needs rest or sleep. By that logic, if I am at Sothis and my ship at Hecate it should take about 30 minutes to arrive since that is (about) how long it takes to fly from Hecate to Sothis. If I am on the rim 2 weeks from anywhere, it should take about that long to get another ship to me.

I have not seen an official statement on this.

Ok, this is first and foremost a game. Its supposed to be fun. If you want real life realism I can offer you a job transporting cars from one side of the country to another.

What it 'should' be aside, as it stands you will be able to request your ships from any Shipyard. They will be available empty, and crew-less immediately. as they were when you docked them last. That is how I understand it from the live streams.

I don't think your ship flies to you on autopilot. There is a transfer cost so that implies that the station is transporting it to you. If your ship was on autopilot then it would be susceptible to be interdictions and may never arrive.

He's not saying the player should have to do it, he's saying that the waiting time should be consummate with the actual transfer time. It would also stop people flat out ripping the A class FSDs, fuel scoop and fuel tanks out of their honed combat machines, making them even more imbalanced when employed against ships that actually fly around and do things (ie: making it even easier for pirates and gankers, thanks to a greater ship disparity)

I'll take it! Some of us just love to drive. I'm in the minority in that I enjoy flitting about travelling in FD, too.

MODERATORS!

There is only ONE thread allowed on these forums to discuss this thing... CLOSE this thread, because you've CLOSED all the others!

Just because that FDL with dirty drives 5 is 6 tons lighter (the weight difference between a 4A and a 4D FSD), does not mean it will give the other player a fighting chance. Even on a Corvette, the weight difference would only be 24 tons. Negligible as far as ship performance is concerned. In fact, as someone who went to the trouble of getting a FSD 5 upgrade for every ship that I fly... I wouldnt even bother doing anything with the FSD. Not worth the trouble. The only exception would be for my Imperial Courier racing build, but that ship flies weaponless.
