Hi FD devs and others,
With the much anticipated ED update scheduled for 2020 there may be an opportunity to get players interested and involved by holding a ship design competition.
As I imagine it, players could be invited to submit their original concept art for a new ship to arrive in the game with the update. FD could use the concept as the basis for the actual ship design (i.e. leaving FD a free hand as regards the nitty gritty). As part of the competition rules FD could give some guidance about the role, size and basic functionality of the ship that it wants. Players can then use their imagination to provide concept art leaving FD to take it from the drawing board to the game.
The prize (if any) would be entirely up to FD, but the naming of the ship by the winner may be a good reward.
