Ship destruction info

Quick question, what txt file do I need to check regarding ship destruction? I generally leave ED running even when I'm not at the computer, since I built my new rig I have lost two cargo ships with high rebuys. I have a feeling voice attack is engaging silent running or something like that, need to trouble shoot this issue.

Rebuy screen only informs you if a CMDR or NPC has caused the death.

Most recent destruction, ship was flying stable away from a station into deep space (Aligned with the High wake vector) Previous destruction, docked at a station down in the hangar.

Cheers

Frankly, no clue. I'd dig in journal files at c:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\
Maybe you could also set a command in VA to disable "listening" of audio input when you're afk. I used to use it like this in the past so that VA would not confuse background speech with some command execution.

I mute my mic when I leave my "workstation" and that works pretty well, assuming I'm not pointed at a star like that one time. :D

Unless VA is the culprit, running out of fuel would be the only other thing that would make sense.

Not sure what the string for dying looks like, but if it just happened before you logged out, it should be at the end. And I'm also unsure how to read the exact cause of death from it.
Maybe it would be easier to file a ticket and ask support what exactly happened. They should be able to tell.

On that note, it might be nice if ED provided an in-game option of viewing a "flight data report" (similar to what KSP does after you crater a ship) which tells you what happened prior to all the exploding.

Yes, some kind of a black box could be useful, but it's one of those things that probably isn't worth the development time. After all, while dying and analyzing your mistakes is a core gameplay mechanic for Kerbal, you can't say that about Elite. After the initial skill-mountaneering, you hardly die at all.

It is very difficult for VA to trigger Silent Running, in order to avoid accidental activation they have set it up in such a way that the instruction has to be preceded by "Protocol Override", unless you've changed it, it is very unlikely to be the culprit.

I once left to make a coffee, had some other things to do, ship was hovering about 200 meters from the surface of a planet, I had no cargo, was not wanted, so surprised to return and see the rebuy screen, I didn't figure it out until heading for docking when the ship suddenly boosted, voiceattack responded to a random noise, I command it to sleep before I leave it now.

That's actually a pretty good idea.
Could be helpful for new players decipher exactly what happened when they went pop, and the cause wasn't immediately obvious.

If you install EDDiscovery, it'll grab your log files and dump all the logged events into a big spreadsheet-style human readable format, which you can even search, sort, and filter in a number of different ways.

I could be wrong, but I think it might log things like shields going down, fuel dropping below X %, and a number of other events which may help you piece together what happened.

Thanks, Voice and Astra have always run on a self built profile, have never used the standard profile provided with ASTRA.

@Traveler, nice one mate, that was the log I was looking for. Nothing to find in there though. I'll accept and move on... Just a dodgy cop in the log file prior to my mysterious death - SJA ;-)

If you have an NVIDIA card and were away less than 20 minutes, you can dump the video of what happened with shadowplay. I do that for bugs and the like.
