Horizons SHIP DEV: CAM

Dear Fdev can we find a way of tweaking the SHIP DEV CAM view to speed this up esp: after the beluga liner it is slow to move around and take ages, can you speed this up for players, also can we also have more zoom out as well so we can see our ships from a greater distance, currently the system in place is struggling and needs a buff. thanks..

Anyone....?

Agreed. Seconded. External camera definitely needs reworking - not having to control the camera the same way we control our ships would be start! That's just awkward in all sorts of ways.

I concur. We need to have external views similar to what you see in flight sims. At the very least, the camera needs to move much faster!

Don't understand FDs logic. They want us to have a first person 'fly by the seat of your pants' experience. And then give us the option of a third person camera view, but is has to have these ridiculous restrictions.

if FD are gonna gives us a external camera view, then at least give the camera greater freedom of movement that every one's been screaming for. Also they should get rid of that annoying onscreen prompt, telling us we're switching to debug mode. We ain't stupid, we already know how this works. Just have the camera launch from a hotkey, sent out as a drone that's inexplicable tethered to the ship - perhaps via the magnetic force taken from the ship's shield.

I always feel FD want to restrain us in our game. Why is that? I want freedom in the games I play, not limitations!

This is
They can make it as fast as they like, you cant control anything of the ship while in the debug cam. How is that an advantage??
It gives you sight that normal piloting does not

its a dev camera, not a feature.

They can do as they please with the external camera, but the game is badly in need of an in-cockpit padlock view for targets. It's been a feature of space combat sims, ever since the last Lucas Arts game involving X-Wings and TIE Fighters. It would vastly improve navigation (doubly so if we can auto-target our allocated landing pads when given landing permission) and the lack of one actually gives VR users an unfair advantage in just about every situation; combat included.

That's a specious remark.

It's still a feature; albeit with imposed limitations. FD put the camera into game to appease many players requests. If they're gonna do that, at least give the camera better freedom of movement and with better controls. It really isn't asking too much from FD to implement this, or is it?

This is an old desire, since the launch of the game. But implementing it, would bring fun to the game and this is not allowed by game design.

I add to the request for an improved camera - have asked a few times before this, but no harm in supporting this thread.

We need to zoom out further from the ship, especially big ships, simulating a wide-angle to telephoto lens. Maybe just give us a range of fixed lenses to play with if FD doesn't want us having combat advantage with a better camera.

But I have to say (from Beta experience), the debug camera viewed from a ship launched fighter is a great asset for photography. If you are able to afford a SLF, the urgency to improve the debug camera is diminished. [heart]
