Ships Ship Engineering - Anti Guardian Zone Resistance

Travelled 10kly back to the bubble to do some Tharg fighting with my old Krait, I last used it over a year ago for the same thing, it was fine then, now cant last 10 minutes without my Gaurdian module reinforcement being damaged or next to useless and a quickly diminishing hull %

What is the easiest way to overcome this, am I going to have to learn to navigate dead Titan sites to gather the mats needed, can updated module and protection be purchased?
I was really looking forward to a bit of fun ruined by not knowing how things have changed, would have stayed out exploring (or not playing) rather than make the trip to find my ship next to useless :(

Is engineering the modules the only way around it or can modules be swapped out for standard modules?

I think I know the answer, but I may not, so................

Well you could swap out the Guardian weapons for Enhanced AX Multicannons and AX Missiles, but that would take Hydras off the table for solo fights, probably Medusas too, as I've never been able to solo one with the human AX weapons, but I'm also not that good. You could also swap the GMRPs for normal MRPs, etc.

Or, gather the mats for a bunch of engineering. Also:
learn to navigate dead Titan sites
Hardened Surface Fragments can only be found on a living Titan, the only current one being Cocijo in Sol. I do think you can get Caustic Crystals at dead Titan clouds, not 100% sure on that.

As for navigating the Titans, the main requirements are a 'Caustic Sink'(or a ton of Decontamination Limpets) to get through the corrosive cloud surrounding the Titan, then a 'Thargoid Pulse Neutraliser' to get past the repulsion wave, both of these are utility slot equipment, back when I got them you had to unlock them from a Tech Broker on a Rescue Ship, I feel like they were made available to all for credits, but don't take my word on that.
Once past the repulsion wave, you'll find yourself in an asteroid field surrounding the actual Titan(and you'll also be clear of the corrosive cloud effect). Now you just need to find the giant looming deathflower(you should be able to see it in the distance, though you might have to look around a bit as the cloud can be disorienting), watch out for patrolling thargoids, and make your way to the surface of the Titan, where you can hide within it's many trenches and overhangs quite effectively, then explore for materials slowly and safely.
Hardened Surface Fragments, somewhat obviously, will be located on the surface of the Titan itself(shoot them to release the material), while Caustic Crystals are found floating around in the corrosive outer cloud.

Thanks for the reply, kinda confirmed what I thought.
Not really sure it is worth the effort or if I can be bothered to put the effort into gathering for what may only be a few days of battle.

10 mins later im off building an IClipper to see how it goes.

Thanks

If it makes you feel any better, I still have to make a few runs myself as I haven't been to one since AGFR was released, and don't want to miss out, given the ambiguity of the seeming end to the Thargoid War approaching.

And the Titans really are one of the coolest environments in the game, similar to the NSP's they were copied from, but with a much more sinister feeling.

Well i guess my first thought, was it worth the time, absolutely not, two hours around Titan Raijin for a grand total of 2 Caustic Crystals, that includes leaving an returning.
I think i`ll give that a miss.

Lol, over two days and around six hours............Four different dead titans..............Five Caustic Crytals, ok, thats enough, try and get to the titan at Sol for some of the Hardened Surface Fragments, yeah whatever, three attempts and dead before I can get to within 50km of it, I cant be bothered to put any more effort for a battle or two with protected modules.
See ya next year ;)

I was about to farm the mats for them, then I learned you can't AGF-proof Modshards, which makes the whole endeavour moot.
