Ship equipment????????

Hey guys i've just purchased a brand spanking new cobra and setting it up with 2 C4 missile launcers and 2 c1 multicannon's its mainly for trading.

Now as for equipment I DON'T KNOW What I need/want.

I was told when destroying ships you need a cargo scanner for them to drop their cargo I have read something that says otherwise

"A Cargo Scanner is mounted on the utility mount of your ship and needs to be assigned to a fire group before you can use it, just like a weapon. It is used to scan another vessel for any cargo it may be carrying. If any of the cargo in a ship that's been scanned is stolen the owner of that ship will incur a bounty. This applies to players and NPCs alike. "

confused as to what I want/need.. Again it will be for trading/smuggling please help <3

The cargo scanner shows you if the target has any cargo loaded and you can check out which items. Mainly you can prevent stacking up your bounty because you see if the ship is a nice target or an empty one.
You do not need to scan a ship before to let it drop its cargo, you just know what it will be before.

LOL I do not have an answer for your question but I think it is funny you want to know how to scan cargo before destroying a ship but you are "Mostly " using your Cobra for trading.. LOL

Nah but seriously how do you think I should load out my cobra and also can I sell everything back if I were to upgrade.

I am looking forward to even more equipment being added. I want to be overwhelmed with choices and have to make difficult decisions regarding the "balance" of my ship.

I know that the signal to noise ratio on these forums is quite low, but there are enough threats about outfitting a cobra already. Why don't you try the search function?

@OP: Function of the scanner was already described, but just a little trading advice: To make an enemy drop cargo, you don't have to destroy them but attack their cargo hatch.

I am looking forward to even more equipment being added. I want to be overwhelmed with choices and have to make difficult decisions regarding the "balance" of my ship.

You points your boomstick at the cargo hatch and free goodies fall out the back. Stretches the definition of 'trade' somewhat but, hey, property is theft is it not?

I can confirm that I am not Mr Epeen from EVE. I played EVE from release for a few months but never really go into it.
