Ship Finder - Based on the up-coming commodity market finder

One of the features I particularly liked in the Q1 changes was the ability to find commodities and their prices from the Market; this feature is a must IMHO and I'm so happy Frontier are putting it in.

With that in mind, it got me thinking where else it could be applied.
I humbly present, the Ship Finder ( direct link )

How it works
Exactly the same way as the Market Historical Trade Data feature. Visiting a system with a shipyard automatically logs the entire systems shipyards; which you can then use to filter, or find the closest / most appealing system.

When you visit a shipyard, and move to a ship in the list, the Ship Finder is loaded up with whatever information you have available, immediately informing you where you can get the ship you want.

The Shipyard will display ALL ship types, even if it doesn't sell them, and automatically display the Ship Finder for those ships it doesn't have. Additionally, a "Find Ship" button is present above the "PURCHASE OPTION" button usually located at the bottom of the UI, above "EXIT" for those ships the Shipyard has in stock, but you'd still like to compare prices.

Selecting this button will change the UI layout to the Ship Finder.

Ship Finder UI
The ship finder UI is largely straight-forward.

  • A search box at the top of the grid lets you filter by System or Station name.
  • Clicking any of the columns lets you sort that column by descending or ascending order; letting you find the closest, or perhaps the cheapest, ship in your list.
  • Selecting one of the records in the result set shifts the record to the right, and displays the route planning button that will automatically setup the fastest route to that System and Station.
  • Finally, the Age column displays how old your data is in Days, Hours, Minutes and Seconds.
