Ship flies into me. Now Im wanted.

I'm in the high res doing my thing killing pirates. After about 15 min in and a ship flies into me and i see the wanted tag pop up then 4-5 more reds start shooting me. THIS IS SO ANNOYING!!!!

Now I fly back to a station and cant even see a contact to pay this stupid bounty. WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad luck. You were the final blow that killed him. It happens to all of us. Find a low security system with an Interstellar Factor in it and pay off the bounty. If you do it in the system you're hunting in, your situation gets much worse / more funny, depending on your point of view.
Yea just found out they send me to stockade. This is so dumb,

Also why is it that i have over 4 mil in bounties but when im at the authority contact it says I can only redeem for around 1 mil?

Ooops. I have not had this exact thing happen. But I have tagged 'clean' ships and maybe the po po is a res site more than once. @Bottom Hat is correct. Leave your current system, find a nearby interstellar factor (preferably in an anarchy system), and pay off the bounty and you are good to go. If you pay off the bounty at an interstellar factor in your current system, you may find yourself teleported far far away to a place not of your choosing, with a heck of alot of jumps back to where you were... Ask me how I know.

Bounties need to be collected in the system(s) you earned them for top $$$. Interstellar factors will turn in other systems bounties, but then they take a cut... not worth it.

Are you using a kill warrant scanner?
Authority contact will only pay out bounties from factions represented on that station. Either find the other factions somewhere in space, or let an IF do that for you - for a small fee, of course.

Where do I find these factions?

Type in your system, click "Interstellar Factors".

You can do it in-game, but this is easier.

Not the interstellar that takes a cut. How do i find the factions with the bounties to get the best payout?

Like it tells me the faction name but not where they are located

THIS WAY LIES MADNESS..

Chasing each tiny bounty down to it's faction, flying there, and docking is more of a waste of time than just going to an IF. If I go to an IF, I only have to travel and land once, versus multiple times. Well worth the fee, IMO.

Wait until you're murdered in a space station for doing something that amounts to a 200 credit fine LOL!

Yeah the legal system in this game...not a fan. I accidentally killed a "good" NPC last night and had to wait two hours for the notoriety timer to wear off. For killing ONE NPC bot? Come on fDev.....

Meanwhile, in a nearby station a System Authority Officer, accompanied by a High Priest of the Local Deity are walking down the corridor in the lower levels of the accommodation section. They stop at an unmarked door, adjust their uniform and cassock and the Officer knocks on the door. A woman opens the door, sounds of children playing and laughing seep out...

SAO: Ma'am is your husband the late Commander Joseph Bloggs, the last captain of the Federal Logistics ship 'The Mary Lou'?
Wife: Yes, I am Mary Lou Bloggs, wait, you said Late Commander, has something happened to Joe, is he hurt? Kids, shup up and go and play in the sleeping alcove.
SOA: Mrs Blogs, I am sorry to say your husband perished this afternoon at the nearby High Resource Extraction Site. It appears he detoured there to salvage some debris to use as trade.
Mrs Blogs: Was he attacked over scrap, I told him time and time again that stuff just wasn't worth it but he just wouldn't listen.
SOA: He was attacked but that wasn't the cause of his demise. He was evading some out of system pirates after apparently scooping up some cargo and was initially damaged. But members of the System Authority successfully destroyed his attackers - oh you will receive the bill for our services in 7 to 14 days - but then tragedy. From all reports your husbands damaged ship was involved in a close proximity crash with a strange ship. Our records indicate that this ship displayed a hollow triangle on our sensors, we have never seen that type of display before. But this unknown Commander was being a pest, continuously getting in the way of the System Authority ships. It was almost like they were trying to get the last shot on any wanted ship, such strange behavior. I am sorry to say Ma'am but your husband didn't stand a chance, he had no way to evade this interloper. Our sensors did not pick up any escape pods so I gather he wasn't equipped with one?
Mrs Blogs: No, always thought those thing were a scam, like how was it going to magically transport him light minutes back here to the station at the moment of death. And with all the rumours of strange ships scooping up the pods, well we just didn't know what to think. Did you catch the pilot of the other ship, will be pay for his actions?
SOA: Yes the guilty party was identified and has since been sent to the local prison authority {standing to attention, chest pushed out} Ma'am I can honestly say - Justice has been served.
Mrs Blogs: Well and good, but how will I feed my children now, how will I pay the rent, what am I to do
High Priest steps forward: Ma'am in these times of sorrow, have you heard of Our Lord and Saviour, the Majestic Space Goat Bettlebob? My brethern will look after you, all you have to do is indenture yourself and your children - they are capable of some form of manual work aren't then, no disabilities, physical limitations I hope - for a few short years. I promise, it will be over in now time ......

Scene fades to black as an anguish scream is heard echoing down the corridors ....

There are always two sides to the story ..... :D

Haha yea I just did the IF. Im rockin and rollin now. Stacking massacre missions and completing them in High res. Just made 15 mil fairly quickly

That's the ticket buddy, you'll find you get quicker and quicker as you improve - then when you get a bunch of engineering done, it just snowballs!

Something I find invaluable in Res hunting is long range sensors, that I don't use any other type now, but it's each to their own of course. If you find your run out of targets, go up or below the ring about 1km (roughly), then roll 90deg, and pull a slow 360. You'll find that miners will try to run sometimes, so you can spot fights much easier this way. Use the planet as your marker.

If you still find it empty, head back towards the marker for the Res, a few km, and just loiter. Failing that, go about 4-5km above the ring, look down at the marker, and sweep a slow visual arc to spot scraps amongst the rocks and on the other side - sod's law says they are on the other side!

You will find after a while you'll be able to spot the "vapour trails" of enemy ships boosting along as distant lines - easiest to spot wings of targets like this. You can practice spotting these from a distance outside a station watching the security ships go around.

Lots of little tricks with Res hunting, but I don't want to bomb you with too many! Most people come up with their own ways to do things, but you can always give me a PM on here if I can help; I'm also happy to wing up if you want a hand at some point with tactics etc as it's easier said than done!

You're getting there though mate, really quickly :) Don't be too disillusioned though with bounties and fines, as it happens to everyone no matter the experience. Just always be ready to bug out, and try to remember the nearest IF if you're at a regular place.

Thx for the advice and yea, I'd be down to learn first hand from others at some point. Right now I'm determined to get some basic flight and combat down till I feel comfortable. The skill ceiling is pretty darn high with this game.

You can blame all the moaners that complained that NPCs were stealing their kills. Frontier added a 10s timer so the last player that tags a ship for any reason get credited with the kill, so now, if you accidentally damage a ship and it dies 10s later for any reason, you get the credit. Really, 1s or half a second would've done the job.

Being born into Serfdom you must give way to your political overlords....
did u apologize and pay taxes before it happened..no, then that's your fault!
Did u notify the authorities that you would be occupying that space before you got there...no, then that's your fault!
Plus the person you made bump into you was cousins with the contact hence he took a lunch break when he seen at the mail slot!? Hope this helps in understanding.
