Ship ideas

Have you tried the DBS? What you said seems to fit the description of the DBS....

The DBS/DBX don't got the right canopy; you can't see below you. They're fun ships, but don't provide the all-round Asp view unfortunately. I haven't G5'd an Asp Scout yet (it's my last ship to engineer aside from Cobra mk IV), I know it's more nimble than an AspX, but it didn't seem as maneuverable and fast as the smaller ships. It has the canopy though, and I'll be testing it out for fun-ness.

I honestly have no delusions that my high-end small-with-a-huge-hardpoint will ever be in the game (I mention it only as a fantasy and not something to be expected or feasible), but I do think a Viper level ship with much better visibility could work.

You misspelled G-U-T-A-M-A-Y-A in your list. We already have two large Saud Kruger explorers with the Orca and Beluga.
Well kind of, but you could similarly say there is already Clipper and Cutter since pretty much any ship may explore. I wouldn't mind a Gutamaya medium that is also an explorer, but running hot seems to be Gutamaya's thing and that is no fun when scooping. Also I don't think they could sacrifice their artistic integrity for a big bubble cockpit, but Saud Kruger might. Their panoramic cockpits are already a start, just need to remove the floor.

That being said, take the Clipper, make it a bit smaller to fit a medium pad, reduce the optional modules slightly to balance it out, but keep the class 7 for the fuel scoop. Then just give it a class 6 FSD while having more or less the same weight and there it is, an Imperial Explorer.

No more Saud Kruger ships, please. There are enough codpieces in the game as is. I'd like to see more small ships (AFTER we get more meaningful kinds of gameplay that call for them.) Zorgon could stand to release a smaller cousin of the Mamba (which really should've been a small ship anyway but oh well.) Gutemaya already holds the crown for speed in small and large ship categories; I'm surprised they don't have a medium yet.

ZP does have 2 ships from Elite-A that could be added to the game: the Monitor (built by ZPG) and the Ophidian (built by Outworld Workshops, who also built the Adder).
- The Monitor is comparable to the Python, being smaller (~30% shorter and narrower) and more maneuverable than the DeLacy design, but also slower and with less capacity.
- The Ophidian appears to be like a bigger brother to the Adder, with more cargo space, more firepower, and similar handling characteristics to the Cobra III.

Additionally, your request for a small ZP combat ship has been added to the list.

Added to the list. I'm trying to imagine what a Lakon (the official Alliance shipbuilder) battlecruiser would look like....
Something along the geometric lines of a T6/T7/T9 probably. All Lakon vessels are rather boxy/angular in nature, Federal designs (exc. the FDS/FGS/FAS) are more arrow like, and the Imperial designs are sleeker and almost trimaran (longer central body with shorter twin nacelles) in look and feel.

I like the idea of a small expensive ship. It brings back vibes from Escape Velocity. You'd have the typical progression with larger costing more, but there was this one fighter, the rapier, that for some reason cost more than some of the bigger ships in the game and on the books it wasnt anything special, but for its class it was amazing. So it was really never something that I bought until the end game when I just wanted to mess around. I'm all for that plan. Hugely expensive small ship.
