Ship Insurance/ Creditor is poorly implemented

Ship Insurance/Creditor is next to useless when ship is destroyed and have little to no credits to spare

The maximum loan of 200k cr will never cover even the hull cost of any ship above a T6

There is no option to liquidate other assets to help pay the fee or delay payment until credit is regained using another ship

So the end result is that for the sake of a few thousand credits , a player can lose a ship worth millions.

The current system is the equivalent of your car insurance company demanding immediate payment of any excess at the scene of the crash , failing to comply results in them failing to pay out for your ferrari(anaconda, asp etc), and offering you a free ford escort (sidewinder) instead. In fact, its not even that good, since its more like the insurance company referring you to a lender who wont lend you enough)

I'd like to see creditor offer a little more , 200k cr is really pathetic, perhaps a sliding option with increasing tariff would be a better option, or at the very least allow a player to liquidate other assets.

Tough, is the bottom line.
Keep enough funds in your account to cover the replacement cost of your ship.
You only make this mistake once:
Over 10 million gone in a moment of stupidity.

Or you could use a bit of common sense instead of being greedy and don't put all your eggs in one basket.

If you get caught without enough to cover your insurance, you have nobody to blame but yourself.

I lost: -
1 Eagle - run out of fuel
2 Cobras - Upgraded Fuel Scoop & FSD to smaller size and could not fit old one again. Stuck in 1 system with 1.6ly jump to nothing...GAME BUG!

At some point you have to take responsibility for yourself. The insurance isn't meant to be a get out of jail free card for poor decisions and/or bad luck. It's there to help you get started again in the event of 'catastrophe', so you're not left completely penniless at the bottom of the ladder starting from scratch.

Not game bug, BRAIN BUG!

You should have been able to get your old FSD back if you'd realised it before leaving the station.
If not then there's not much that could be done unfortunately.
If you're not fully to grips with the way the outfitting works then it's an easy mistake to make to be fair.

You are wrong Dave. I could not get the Jump Range back to where it was even after returning the old module. It corrupted my ship. The info showing power drawn on the lighter fsd shown it could cope. It broke it!
Only fair I let you know unless you prefer others get pi55ed off too.

No, it is possibly the only mechanism currently implemented to keep the game somewhat risky (ie interesting) once you get to high credit levels.

In my view, it is making the game too safe, and any change should be to reduce that safety net, not to increase it further.

really?
Try losing your hauler to lag or player pirates when you start out, or to a bugged landing pad causing the station to open Fire on your ship.
After the third time I had to restart.
Dont just think everyone's gaming experience is the same as yours, insurance is dumb and I bet it will get dropped soon.
No casual player enjoys negative death penalties, having to downsize a ship because of it... Who will continue playing that game?

This was 2 hours ago. Some of you guys missed 1 important point. My insurance (fully comp) could not recover my ship to the point before I fitted a lighter FSD. Neither could the Jump Range reset after actually installing the old one back again. Insurance is ok if you got the money but it does not solve BUGS.
I lost the 1st Cobra to buy back all previous fitted upgrades (it did not list the FSD)
I lost the 2nd Cobra right after that and simply tried to get back the old ship without the listed upgrades, failed so had to go for a free loaned Sidewinder. At least I didn't need to click "bankruptcy" as I still had over 150k in pocket.
I almost had 3 similar losses when Nividia released their 2715x1527 Elite specific driver which does NOT require any Anti-Aliasing at all and was the very reason for creating that, only the reccomended config in Experience is very dim and does not calculate very well, so when going into Hyperspace and it tries to draw the sun - crash PC and had to pull the plug before I heard my ship crash into it! Three times!!!
.
You know what, that Cobra was one heavy piece of junk and a gas guzzler. I like how small and agile the Sidey is. You guys have all this c r a p to come ... hopefuly not.
