What is the little screen used for in the interior? The one right in between the legs of the CMDR? If its not used for anything, maybe it can be used to provide info from a detailed body scan, or something.

When not scanning planetary bodies, the same screen can be used for Communications etc
It just looks so awkward when you look down and all you see is a blank screen!
