Ship interiors a different perspective

Some people say that ship interiors would be boring but I don't think so and that the game structure has to change - does it? David in an interview said they are creating this game with ship interiors because thats one of their goal... how is the game structure has to change?

When I hear ship interiors I think about players being able to explore more on foot ex. crashed ships with dead and with people that need rescue inside giving more immersion to the rescue missions. Running into your ship with your squad while under heavy fire - giving you that Hans Solo moment - adrenaline pumping in your vein, everyone running to their station while you screaming at your noob friend " ABU HAJAAR!!!! DUDE WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? OUR LEFT FLANK IS EXPOSED!!! THATS MY CHAIR,!!! ABU HAJAAR - GO. TO. YOUR. CHAIR!!!". - who doesn't want a space Abu Hajaar moment!? Or as a trader you just walk through your cargo bays and assess the damage after you crash your ship 100 times into the station entrance saying to yourself "what was I thinking? Rolling and drifting in a Type 9 with a full load? Am I drunk or just plain stupid?". Or seeing your passangers in their rooms - giving you a connection with them and more responsability for their security.

This post is not about "oh there is no ship interior in the game" - this post is to convince people who are against ship interiors. If done right it could heighten the game's immersion to wuthering heights!!!

Imagine clearing derelict ships of xenos/scavs and salvaging in space. Imagine having to move cargo from that ship to yours by pushing it through space in your suit while potentially coming under attack by xenos/scavs/authorities.

Imagine being able to claim derelict ships by boarding, clearing, and repairing them.

Imagine being able to find extremely rare suits, weapons, or even multi engineered modules by boarding derelict ships.

Imagine missions with extremely high payouts that require you to disable a ship in space, board it, kill the hostiles, and rescue the hostages by suiting them up and bringing them over to your ship.

Imagine missions where you have to infiltrate a tourist ship and then locate and kill or exfil a high value target.

Imagine getting a huge boost in space CZs and greatly increased payouts if, instead of destroying a commander's ship, you disabled it, boarded, and killed /captured the crew and took the ship.

People who can't imagine ship interior game play just can't imagine.

i dont care either way ...

but, i do think the scale is way off to have interiors with our current fleet

take a look at one of the bigger ships we have, the anaconda.
walk around it at a dock ... land it on a planet and walk around it
how much room is in there to walk around once you add engine space fuel storage ect.ect.
imo, there is not much room in there to have a viable interior
even the crashed anaconda is small when you really look at it to scale with our character

and we have alot smaller ships in out fleet and those cant accommodate any interior worth the devs time ...

we need bigger ships to have a proper "ship interior"

i think the static ship idea is best ... or even new specialized ships to add to the fleet that have proper sized interiors
some ships that are bigger than what we have and something that can truly accommodate an interior that we all would appreciate!

Oh I think most people can imagine it. It's just that what they have done is provide us with where most of the gameplay would be. I can also see them opening up the space installations and use the like settlements too.

Ship interiors would be nice as has been mentioned here, but the gameplay is limited for a lot of work. But I would still like to see them in though.

So much this. The big question is though: Could FDEV pull off what we can imagine ? Looking at Odyssey I'm not sure sure about it. I want it done so much, but better not done at all instead of done wrongly with minimal effort.

What makes me a bit sad is the fact that it's the community that has to come up with things like this.

I know FDev have more than enough on their plate but I am pretty sure there must be a few interns who could manage a project like this (with original assets and insight to FDev's workflow). They could up with ideas, do some pre-modelling or sketches of interiors and then perhaps send their work for approval... or not.

And even if they added empty interiors with absolutely no gameplay for now so what? We already have a huge empty hangar that we have to cross every time when we embark and disembark our ship. Until they come up with a gameplay they could leave the blue circle for those who want quick boarding.
We already have plenty of time consuming things in ED so one more should not be the end of the world.

Just my thoughts on interiors. I would very much like them, especially now when we have space legs.

Personally I have nothing against time consuming. Docking my ship is time consuming, traveling is time consuming. Yeah, it's not the best excuse I've heard, especially when ED is concerned.

I suppose it's all down to priorities. I'm sure they will get to them at some point, just not in the immediate future.

I’m sorry, but there’s nothing new in what you’re saying. I have heard it all before, several times.

I really don’t think your own ship interiors will ever change anyone’s mind. You either want them and nod along, or you don’t.

However the gameplay options externally may sway some. Exploring a crashed anaconda looking for loot or boarding a generation ship for the first time. Much more interesting.
