Ship kits, are they a disadvantage ?

So I recently baught a ship kit, yay..!

I noticed how my ship (python) looked so much bigger with the kit on : longer nose, bulkier rear. Does the hitbox of the ship actually extend to the new parts ? That would certainly be a problem... making me a bigger target, easier to shoot at.
I do really like the kit though, I'll keep it no matter what !

So I don't have to worry about hitting the doorway, or getting stuck on those lamps when docking ?

Nah, they're not solid.... You can shoot through them, fall through them with an srv....effectively they're holograms.

The ship kits do have collision modeling. My buddy got the Asp X ship kit and mounted a spoiler. I was able to land on his ship with my SRV and wedge myself between the uprights and back of the spoiler. We flew around a planet while I used my wake scanner to search for alien ruins before you could honk their locations.

I think they do make you a bigger target.

Disregard, I found the video and it was a DBX without a ship kit.

Hmm, now that's interesting, maybe they've changed it?

I know when they first released, they weren't solid at all, driving on a friend's python, I could fall right through the shipkit... Will have to test this out....

All you have to do is read the post above where they remembered and actually pulled video of them on a DBX they misremembered as riced AspX.
