Ship kits weightless?

Apologies for going off topic but.....

....while this view may have changed, back in my day (even though I'm only 20 lol), you had to tell women that no, their rear does not look big. I never understood that because what's wrong with a big rear .

They pretty much have to be. If they had downsides like increasing weight and hitbox size, they would need to have upsides as well so that Frontier's microtransaction model didn't become "pay us to make your ship worse". But then they would be selling items which would at least in some way provide an in-game advantage, which is a can of worms to say the least.

If they added weight, then basically nobody would buy them. Nobody really wants to pay for something that would negatively affect your ship.
