Ship Lights...

It would be good if you include a small dash light indicator to show that your ship lights are on / off.

While I agree and actually asked for the same during the beta, they have included on and off noises that go some way toward it. They also appear to reset themselves to "off" whenever you engage the frameshift drive.

What are you using those lights for? I couldn't find any applicable scenario yet.

I switch them on when parking my ship, it helps with seeing where you're going (especially the refinery type spaceports which don't give you the parking aid a lot of times-a bug) and people tend to ram you less in general.

I wish we had nav lights also, you know the flahsing red and green lights and maybe beacon lights too...would look so nice.

I bind mine to the caps lock on my lap top - so I have an indicator in front of me.. less useful now they switch off automatically

When mining they help somewhat in gauging your distance to the asteroid. And I usually turn them on for docking as it seems like the kind of thing they'd be used for.

I've got a docking macro setup, press one button and it requests docking, sets 4 pips in systems and turns on the lights to help other pilots coming in the other direction see me easier.

Agree 100%

I use them everytime I am near a station, both to see better at the landing procedure and to be seen by other ships in the area.

Kind of gives a more realistic feeling for the landing and take-off procedures and love the lighting effect on the station surface.

Some nav and beacon lights will also be great.

While I don't disagree, you can currently just use the different sound the lights make if you want to make sure they are on before approaching an object/port. There is a very distinct difference between on and off.

Edit: Sorry, missed the previous post about this in walking down the thread.

Hey nice idea!

I've used them when landing on platforms that're on the dark side of planets, and occasionally for peeking inside bits of platforms that are broken or have windows, they can help a bit for mining too. I've been known to use them to make myself more visible when going in/out of stations - kinda like using your headlights on your car during the day while driving on highways, but I've been told it doesn't actually work for that in ED due to the way light is "created" or something. You can even "flash" them to quickly say hello to another commander. :)

i shine them at the skulls on darkened outposts to make myself jump boo! also darkened sides of asteroids

Hahaha firet time I saw that i got a little creeped out - seen too many creepy space movies and expected a predator or ravers or something.

No such luck, not even a trumble. :)
