Ship Maintenance Costs

I know a few people have complained about the high costs of this already, but I wanted to point this out:

I normally just do the maintenance every other time I dock, so it's normally about 130cr. Not a big problem although I guess it does add up.

However, I just went to Hutton Orbital, to get some rares, and found after just one trip (it's 0.2 LY in supercruise) I got a 35% integrity and 140k repair bill.
So I paid it, and thought "never coming here again!"

Next, I went to Vela Dock: 'oh no, it's also 1m+ LS away... okay I'll go and see what the repair bill is like" when I get there I get a 35k repair bill. So I can see people aren't going to be going to these systems to get rares any more, because they won't make a profit.

No one went to these places for rares in the first place because they are a giant waste of time, irrespective of W&T.

Perhaps a hidden tax by the G3 against inflation caused by too frequent trading that generates too high returns despite the too low amount of minerals coming from mining.

If it cheaper to suicide than repair then the mechanism is broken.

I'd suggest ignoring the integrity as when you are down to 0% it's only equivalent to having 30% degradation on the hull.

Logically and for consistency repairing 100% integrity should cost the same as repairing 30% hull damage so I'm jut going to let it drop to zero and leave it there until this gets fixed.

Any explorer who has been out for a while knows it's not a problem running with 0% integrity. For combat it's not really a problem as most people will run away once they've lost shields and start to take damage anyway and it makes no real difference to a trader or miner either.

I have a vulture, I got hit today in combat by a Conda at full speed while it was swinging around. It hit me like a batter aiming for the bleachers.
Took me from 2-1/2 shield rings down to 70% hull instantly. I got outta there fast and went for repairs sweating the stories about costs.
I only paid 2100cr. That's about what it used to cost me for significant hull damage before the upgrade and horror stories. So I would guess they have it fixed?

Yeah maybe... I'm in a Lakon T7. I forgot about checking the original price of the ship. (facepalm) As someone else mentioned, it's not the parts, it's the labour. Probably.

About the mining.. well, I guess some people do trading to make shedloads of space-credits, but that's not my focus. I'm going to do some mining soon though, but I plan to go into deep space and look for something interesting to mine there.

This is about ship integrity and NOT basic repairs.

Look on the Repair page when in a station (there is no way to see this when not docked) and it's the value in the top right side we are discussing.

Youre on about hull integrity, not Ship Integrity aka Wear and Tear or Ship Maintenance.

When I was travelling to Hutton Orbital I reached about 1800c. I was wondering if I could take out the whole station if I hit it....

Can´t really blame people mistaking it, the divide between integrity and hull is pretty artificial (one comes from FSD shaking and other from collisions and impacts with projectiles/thermal damage). I`d be fine if FD rolled them together and got rid of integrity value. That would also mean that you would not be able to run around with 0% integrity anymore, which is pretty strange by itself. :p

And bang! exploration is suddenly impossible.

Current process is to explore, sell data, sell all ship modules and weapons, self destruct and re-buy weapons/modules.

Yes it really really needs fixing. Im going to be doing very little meaningful apart from taking advantage of any discounts until its reduced.
I mean its hardly fair to do an assassination mission and have the cost of interdiction be more than the payout for that mission. It kinda wastes all the effort they did in 1.3 getting missions to work.

I just took my Anaconda out of mothballs and travelled 33.2ly to load up for a trade run. Starting @ 100% ship intergrity, I took 2 jumps followed by a 3min journey to the station. Ended @ 99% ship integrity and a charge of 146,970cr, so erm, back into the mothballs she goes lol. Guess it's time to learn mining in something small cheap and disposable for the time being.

at 99% hulll integrity, I still have a 160,000 CR bill for it, but deterioration might have slowed down somewhat...?

And today, I saw, that either FD lowered the cost or else, the price tag for your hull integrity repair pops up and down at random.

Today, in the same station, repair bill only shows 75,000 Credits, roughly half of the previous price. My standing hasn't changed with this station's facttions for better or worse, either..

But she's such an awesome beast of burden...

I'm just letting the hull integrity go. Was hard at first, to leave something unrepaired.

But by now, I don't even open that tab anymore.

I just fly trade runs that would take 7 jumps in a T9, i.e wouldn't even be worth doing without the Anaconda. After all, I got a Python to gear up and that's not cheap

that she is, i've been getting withdrawal symptoms from not flying her. i'm much the same, cant usually leave anything needing repaired or topped up, but i think, on this occasion, i may have to follow your example and pretend the integrity tab doesn't exist lol

I think in the last hotfix update, Michael Brookes said integrity repair at 0% is supposed to be 1% of ship hull cost. Now, as for how fast it deteriorates and if that's fair is up for debate. I've decided to never pay it again, I run when shields are about to go down anyways.
