Ship missing after docking?

So this may be discussed elsewhere but I can't seem to find it.
I am pretty new to the game, despite having an account for a looooooong time...

Had an odd (bug?) occurance... docking in Dunn Orbital for the nth time, approched as normal with supercruise assist, then procceded to automated docking which happened as normal... then in the station I wen't to shipyard and apparently I was not in the ship in which i docked... in fact it was elsewhere in 21 Draco? (no more specific location information) Wen't to disembark, which crashed the game... on reboot I was on foot, wen't to Inter Astra and paid a small fee and am waiting for the required 5 mins while my ship is transferred here...

So not the biggest issue... though I am not sure what happened here?
Is this a known bug?

Crash to desktop?

Reboot? - the game or the computer

Seems like the game got confused and tried to disembark you where it thought he ship was instead of where you actually were, hence the crash.

Did you lose any cargo or exploration/exo-bio data in the crash?

Ahh just the game crashed, and only after trying to disembark as i couldn't access shipyard, killed the process and restarted.
Nothing missing, no damage, no insurance fees... its just really odd... like my commander docked but left his ship in space, lol...

I have had it when I flew from a station back to my carrier, disembarked, found I couldn't do stuff, found my ship was at the station I had just left, as there is no Inter Astra on FCs I escape pod'd back to the station where my ship was. This was well over a year ago.

A fairly rare connection issue bug I believe.

I have had funny things happen just before a disconnect, depending on exactly when the disconnect happens you can keep doing stuff for a few minutes, so if you start docking and it disconnects, you will continue docking right up until the point you try and disembark, when it tries to create a new on foot instance that's when it goes pear shaped. I assume that's what happened here. Because the station disconnected in the middle of the docking process the station never actually got the data that your ship was docked there so it put it back at the last known docked location.
