I think it would be cool to have classes if ships as far as I'd you're into role playing and you are aligned with a faction you can attribute your ship to that class based on your build such as a Federal Gunship being a Federal Frigate or Destroyer or a Corvette being a Federal Fighter Carrier ect. Then if you are not into rp or only using that ship for independent uses you have that option of classing it that way.
Then having your class as a livery option in addition to the name on your ship like "Federal Science Vessel" and your ship name "Daniel Jackson" for example.
