So Fdev more than smashed it with the new ships, but which do you think is the best of the new bunch?

The Cobra MkV for me is by far my favourite, its a replacement for my Mk3 which was the ship i loved to fly the most.
However i have to say the Mando is the best, its versatile, can do any role and is possibly the best explorer ive had.

So far, Cobra 5. I love the other new ships as well, but as a small ship fan, the Cobra 5 rocks.

I like them all for different reasons, but if I had to list them in order of preference; I think the Cobra just edges it, the Type 8 and Mandy are tied and the Python is my least favourite just because it's a bit too focused for my liking.

Edit: Cobra mk5 is really really close as the best small ship, but still, it's limited in general utility by being a small ship.

Yeah, if I had to take one ship all the way across the galaxy, it would be either Mandalay or Phantom.

Mandalay, I do not own it yet, but I can engineer it to have the same or better jump range as my Krait Phantom while carrying twice amount of fuel, which means travelling for 1k ly without scooping fuel, and if I ever need that little extra jump range I can always drop that extra Fuel Tank or refill half of the tank with scoop only.
My 2nd pick would be Cobra Mk5, it looks like nice ship for moving passengers.

Too bad we do not have both biggest and smallest ship in game among those new ships.

I haven't tried the Mk5 yet but as an Explorer my vote goes to the Mandalay. This ship has quickly replaced all my exploration builds made of other hulls. With native SCO support, outstanding thermals, extreme jump ranges and incredible overall handling the Mandalay is my current favorite ship.

Agree its a fantastic explorer, soon as i got one i took a trip back out to the Zurara just to see how good it was.
On the way back though i did feel a little sentimental for my explorer Python i had left back on the carrier, its not as good (apart from carrying more stuff), but me and that ship have a lot of memories and it may be hard to let her go

Yeah as an explorer the Mandalay is definitely my favorite.

I currently have a jump range very close to 80LY and my ship load out is not cutting any corners to maximize the range.

In order:
1. Cobra mk5 - best ship in the game
2. Python mk2 - more guns more better
3. Mandalay - best taxi
4. Type 8 - better than python for medium cargo

All fly really nicely, all good but not too good.

I really think the Mandalay is the GOAT. While marketed as an exploration ship, it really is a good multipurpose one.
