Ship Power down Function

Yes, I am one of those people who from time to time, in the middle of nowhere or in the middle of a asteroid ring will turn off all my modules and just float there in space and enjoy the sites in utter quiet. What I don't understand is why is there not a quick way to power down the ship?

I think it would be nice to have an option or a hotkey we can bind that will allow us to completely powerdown and powerup our ship. Anyway just a thought.

A good opportunity for FD's great sound fx department,
to design all sorts of wonderful, power change clicks and whirrs?
 
As you note, you can power down systems - which is great - so there's no real need for a main, and rather simplistic, on/off switch other than to save a few seconds.

If anything, the powering down and powering up of those systems should take longer (to initialise/calibrate etc.) :)
 
Power down everything... except life support... because silence is golden but the sound of breathing air really isn't!

The diagnostic and repair sequence in Beta 1.2 sounds pretty awsome so it would be nice if they had a powerdown sequence that sounded like that.

Agree. Would like that when I arrive back at a station on my last run of the night, the ability to shut everything down.
 
Yeah the power down would be good even for smuggling and hunting. But the downfall would be like the FSD cool down. If you shut everything down it will take a while before engines will be back online.
