Ship Price - includes trade in?

Does the price quoted for a ship purchase include the present ship or do you sell this separately?

When you click the purchase button you will be shown a screen with two options (and price breakdown)

1. An option to trade in your current ship, also showing how much you get for your current ship in part exchange.
2. An option to purchase the new ship outright which automatically stores your current ship.
