Ship price question!!

Has anyone figured out a method to finding cheaper ships? I can say for sure it isn't related to one's faction standing, because the Federation doesn't like me. But it could be related to distance from jump point? LHS 3447, Dalton Gateway (100,000+ LS away): Type-9 sells for some 68 million credits - a pretty big savings indeed!

LHS 3447 recently had a 10% sale due to its economic boom (and due to being a default starting location for many players). Other than sales such as that and the Founder's World, ship prices are completely fixed across the galaxy.

Just do Combat/Trading/Exlporing until one of them get you to Elite. Although they seem bugged at the moment (what isn't bugged in this game anyway) and does not actually give you the permit (go figure). But a Dev confirmed that being an Elite should give you the permit.

Will take you quite a while though. The 1st Elite combat was achieved by camping a warzone, select the side with a capital ship and tagging every enemy in sight before they got blown by capital ship (thus earning you the kill) for something like 1 month straight, 15 hours a day or so (there should be a thread here somewhere).

Getting Elite as trader means you need 1 BILLION of trading PROFIT. Good luck!

It was set in such a way that if you managed to reach Elite, you will no longer NEED the discount as you can afford everything by then (especially the trading one lol)

Indeed! So kind of pointless then. I will keep looking for economic booms for when I need my Type -9. I just bought a Python set up for hybrid trade and combat (280T, plus pulse lasers and multicannons for defense, though minimalist shields). I have an ASP set up for major anti-Anaconda warfare. I am now left with a measly 2.6 million. I have to get up to 40 million before I can trade my Python for the T9.

edit: I remember seeing someone said that there was a system near founders world where you could do missions for rep that lead to a permit much like other system permits. Can this be confirmed?
