Ship recall failure then destruction

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone else is suffering from a similar problem to me. While attempting to recall my ship from my SRV, the ship is stuck at 1K above the surface. going back to both menu and desktop didnt resolve the issue, and when i decided to go driving anyway, i got a message that my ship was destroyed!

Ive reported this is as a bug, but was wondering if anyone else has seen anything like this? Ive only seen one similar(ish) report on the bug forums for 2.0.02. I was only 6Kly out but seemed to have found a good area to explore, as id found a few unclaimed neutron stars and lots of WW. Frustrating, but what can you do eh?

Any fuel rats towing a spare Asp? Do you think i could boost my SRV fast enough to get back in it before my fuel runs out? Could be fun trying!:S

I'm sorry, I hope that your issue is solved by the devs.
If it ever happens again a solution is:
Log out to desktop and log in with Elite 1.5 (no horizons version).
Even if you are in the SRV, since you will spawn in a non-horizon version, you'll found yourself inside the ship, in the planet orbit at a safe distance, and the SRV will be stored in your ship. This has been tested several times.

Akira

Much appreciated! I'll have to remember for next time. I'm currently still driving my SRV around like a lost astronaut, hoping that I find a thargoid ship to steal....Think I've been watching too many films!

Well, i expirenced this the other way round...
The ship started engines, closed the hatch but didn't take off. As i drove away it selfdestructed.

I was only 6kly out, still freshly shaven! There was plenty of space to land, the ship didn't want to move! I think to be TracerToms situation was similar, only I tried to log off first which probably moved my ship to the place they all go to when we're all pretending to be able to drive.....

TracerT, Akira, I presume that there's no way to recover my ship? Or do I just have to apply some WD40 to my 'man up' zip and submit the insurance claim?

Cheers everyone, like the blog Rikk, I'd have joined you all on DW myself but got a Masters Dissertation to write soon, plus the opportunity to sneak in some first discovered tags while all the hardcore epic explorers are off on the exploring equivalent of a stag weekend in the other direction is too good to miss!

I like your thinking :) Pick the direction our route (pub crawl) takes and avoid it!
Thanks for the reminder about my blog too, had another post I forgot to publish!
