Ship Showroom

Do you want to keep players grinding out the hours to earn the credits for the ship of their dreams? (apart from all you Billionaires out there)

Have one Station per Faction (Imperial/Fed etc) that lets you Test Run any ship that can be bought.
You get to kit it out with any non engineered items and go for a spin.... BUT ONLY IN THAT SYSTEM......FSD inoperative!
You can fight with it, travel about in it.. take it back to the Station when finished....pay 100,000 Credits MAX to repair it, 1 Million if you blow it up.

Just a thought.

No. You can buy a ship, if you have the credits, take it out, do whatever, and if you decided you don’t like it, you just sell it back with no mark down. I don’t see the point of test drives.

Has that changed recently? It has always been a 10% markdown previously.

Never taken a car for a test drive, even if you could never afford to buy a new one?

I got myself a Cutter in an Open Beta... junk, drove it straight back... dunno if I too a hit on my credits, I can't remember, I don't think so, but it popped that dream bubble and I enjoy my Clipper so much more now I've realised there just ain't nothing better... for me, I even felt a little guilty for buying the Cutter while my Clipper just sat there watching!

Anyway, test drive... I dunno, better showroom... that's a no brainer, expecting folks to fork over hundreds of millions of credits by showing them an Orange drawing... jeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz

I think this is a good point...
A bit more detail in the shipyards wouldn’t be a bad thing!

It’s all just game development that doesn’t really add anything to the actual gameplay though. I’d much rather they worked on fleshing out some of the existing content...

It’s high time they took a second look at the navy ranks and made each one more meaningful so CMDRs have that second layer of career progression to enjoy.

Unless something has changed that I'm not aware of, you can swap/sell any outfitted equipment/weapons/etc without penalty, but selling the hull will cost you a 10% hit.

Not a big deal on the small ships unless you're credit balance is low as can be typical early in the game, but it can get expensive on the larger ships.

I never sell a hull as it can just as easily be parked anywhere for future use. If you're certain you'll never want to use it again then sell it back to get 90% of the original cost back.

Your showroom is in a haz res site. You can get up close and personal with the big builds, check them out. They love showing off their rides. Take some food in your cargo hold for them. It will be an auto show of epic proportions.

I think a cool showroom that looks like what you see now at the main menu would be cool.

That Main Manu gave me a heart attack the first time I signed in for months, I knew I was 30 000 ly out from the bubble but it showed my ship in dock... I wondered what the hell had happened... Looks nice though, a much better sales room that that Orange drawing (ED please take note)

I have never understood why, if you have more than one crew member, you can’t send them both out in fighters. If your Fighter bay has 6 fighters, why can two not be used at the same time by both crew members?

I am lead to believe, though, that if you have two SEPARATE fighter bays installed, you can have more than one fighter deployed at the same time.
