ship size

I've tried to find info on just how big is a some of the ships are( fore to aft ,port to starboard) but I have been unable to find anything. Does anyone have a guess?

I believe I saw a graphic that set the Sidewinder at 18m wing tip to tip. I could never find it to link it, but the thread was about 'scale on E: D.

I can't read any numbers on those pictures. What is the Sidewinders 'wing span'?
There's a picture of a man standing next to the SW. Let's say the average male is 1.8m and the man is just over 3 squares high, for the sake or argument lets say that 3 squares = 2m

I counted 32 squares for that SW. So yeah, it is actually 18-20m.

Yes, all the ships in Elite are big. And that's cool :D I think the Condor, the second smallest ship of the game, is the size of a modern fighter, F-16 sized maybe ?

If you click the image, and then click it again in the window that pops up, you can view it in full resolution. It's a desktop background, so it should be plenty big enough to read.

A SW 18m? I dont think that's right.

That's almost 60 ft for you 'murcans.

These are "spaceships" with armor.

The armor and engine alone wouldn't be small. I mean you are talking about an intellstellar jump drive here, not a V8 engine.

I don't think there even exist these blueprint images for more than the ships shown above.
True that.

I do believe (or at least hope :)) that eventually we can download the "New Observer's Guide to Ships in Service" with such schematics for all ships & stations in game. Will have to wait for a while though, as 15 more playable ships need to be added to the game first...

There's a door on the back of the Type 9. That's a good indicator. I would say it's roughly the size of a baseball field.

FD could make a fortune if they had blueprints of the core ships made up as A2 or A1 size posters. OMG. I would have a Cobra or Imperial Clipper above my bed. Double-sided posters with colour "advert" on one side and blueprint on the other? I'd pay around £30 for one of them. *hint hint*

And where are my in-cockpit furry dice for my Vulture? £5. Free Brian toy? £FREE with insurance. ;)

Yeah, I would totally buy an A2 poster of a Python and and Eagle blueprint. :D

Forgot a couple of images. Seeing the pilot standing outside the ship really gives you a sense of how huge these ships actually are.
