Ship specific perks

Any thoughts on adding a perk system for the ships and their capabilities?

Examples:

Eagle - 10% damage bonus to class 1 pulse lasers

Viper - 10% range bonus to class 1 pulse lasers

Asp - 10% intake bonus to fuel scoops

...and so on.
In a way the number of internals a ship has somewhat defines it's role but not entirely.
