Ship storage re-design

So as far as I understand the lore, CMDRs are not actually physically on the ship, its our holographic projections, hence we just re-holo into a new ship when we die, correct? Welp, that said here is what I think would be a great addition. Currently, in order to change into a different ship we already own, that ship has to be stored in the same station we are currently located. That kind confines us to a certain region of space as we are forced to pick a "home station". That kinda limits our activities. If I am in a very long range exploration run and want to participate in a new CG that was announced, I'd have to fly aaaaaaaalll the way back, switch ships and go on; that can take weeks depending on where I am.
What if, on the login screen, we were able to pick which one of our ships to can spawn into? That way, we can scatter our ships in multiple systems depending on what we want to do today. If i'm tired of jumping from system to system exploring, and want to do some mining, I no longer would have to spend a week flying across the galaxy. Then I could just relog and keep exploring when I feel like picking it up again.
I honestly think that option will greatly diversify our gameplay.

I wasn't aware that CMDRs weren't on their ships. What you're asking for is instant transportation to anywhere in the galaxy. Can't see that happening.

If you want to explore and do other stuff, may I suggest you get an alt account.

Or pay to have your ship shipped.

Please note Holograms are only on SRV and SLF. Not our ships.

They only added telepresence because they felt they needed to explain how you can survive your fighter being destroyed, despite having acknowledged that respawning when your ship dies is essentially magic. So why not just use the same magic rather than hurt the fun?

So ya, they might as well make you a projection and make everything telepresence. It was a messy decision.

I mean, yeah, you can get your ship transfered, but that doesn't change a thing, you'd still have to come back etc. What if I wanted to explore deep space, then do some mining in Colonia, and maybe some CG in the bubble. That is potentially days or weeks of jumping around.
If we're not a hologramm in the ship, how are we revived when we get blown up?

Why do you have cabin pressure? How do you suffocate?

I remember old elite had an eject button also. And you could scoop up escape pods after blowing a ship up.

I know it would slow game down, but I sometime wish you have to fly your escape pod back to a stations or something

Why not look at my Signature. Of the player who made it to Colonia in 107 jumps. Almost 2 hours. Why does it take weeks?

The holo-mes confuse the issue somewhat and I think it's best to think that yes, we are in our ships and try not to pick it apart too much because it's a fragile concept.

The holo mess started with players being left on the planet after their ships accidentally destroyed. I am not sure if it happens on SLFs also. But that how the hologram came about.
