Ship Builds & Load Outs Ship Swapping

Hello.
I am coming back from too long of a break. I have a Viper ship in storage, but when I swap with my Cobra I remain in my Cobra. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have any cargo in your Cobra? if it's more than the Viper can carry you can't swap ships, are they both at the same station? they need to be for ship swapping

That was the problem. I thought it would transfer on its own?

It should but only if the Viper has enough cargo space, the other one to watch out for is limpets you need to sell them before swapping.

I forget about limpets every time.....really should transfer like cargo even if you don't have a controller.
